Victoria Moon Joyce

Since settling in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Victoria Moon Joyce has returned to her first career as an artist, focusing primarily on landscapes and studies around New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada. Moon is deeply in love with her country of birth and her paintings reveal both a depth of memory and fresh insight. She knows her country well, having lived in six provinces and worked in every province and territory. Addicted to the beauty of context and the magnetic pull of memory, her paintings are anchored in a credible and powerful depiction of place.

Moon is a graduate of the Fine Arts program at University of Waterloo where she studied painting and drawing with Tony Urquhart, among others. Her art training led to a rich and varied teaching career that spanned the country and three decades of interdisciplinary work as an artist, musician, Outward Bound educator and cultural worker. Moon complements her studio work with teaching art education courses at various institutions in Nunavut, New Brunswick and Ontario.

Kath Kornelsen Rutherford was first introduced to printmaking while studying with David Silverberg at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. In 1978 she moved to Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia and began by setting up a studio/ printshop in her home. Through her first Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Award in 1982 she attended the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design to further study intaglio techniques under the instruction of Ed Porter. This course began her shift from the chemical processes of etching to more direct engraving processes of Mezzotint and Drypoint. In addition to receiving The Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Award twice, she has also been awarded two Professional Artists Development Grants and a Project grant (to attend her solo exhibition in Russia) from the Nova Scotia Department of Culture.

Morag Walsh

Morag moved to Canada in 1970. Having grown up in the Orkney Islands off the North coast of Scotland, the sea is in her blood, and settling in a small fishing village in Charlotte County has been the perfect fit for her.  Over the years she has painted in various media, but have found Watercolour to be well suited to capturing the natural beauty of the local coastline.  Not having had any formalized art training, her works are mostly intuitive. Whether depicting flowers, waves or even still life, she strives to express her delight in the world around her.

Matt Watkins

Matt Watkins has always lived in the Canadian Maritimes, and still finds plenty of inspiration for his paintings in the beautiful scenery of the Fundy Bay region. Retreating to the peaceful seclusion of the woods or the vast openness of the Atlantic Coastline to paint, Matt brilliantly captures the vibrancy of his natural surroundings with a painter’s brush. His artistic skill and familiarity with his subject are evident in the loose and descriptive brushstrokes he uses to create images — his style borders impressionism and realism.

Matt Watkins is an independent professional jeweller and a regular instructor at Sunbury Shores.  His studies in jewellery-making at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design and NSCAD University have earned him a degree in Fine Arts. Matt is a member of the New Brunswick Crafts Council, and the owner of Earthforge Designs, which specializes in high-quality, custom jewellery.  His unique jewelry designs fuse historical motifs, modern aesthetics and solid craftsmanship.
