Terms of Employment: 30 hrs/week for 8 weeks

Salary: $11/hr

Job Description:

Sunbury Shores Arts & Nature Centre (SSANC) is looking to hire a professional, creative and driven summer student as Children’s Course & Outreach Assistant under the Canada Summer Jobs program.

Sunbury Shores Arts & Nature Centre is a non-profit and membership-based charitable organization with the following mission: As an enduring, vibrant cultural leader, we enrich lives by championing the values of art and nature through diverse creative experiences. Through innovative programming for children and adults, professional instruction and exhibitions, and world-class facilities, SSNAC has been a focal point and driver of arts, culture and development of the St. Andrews and surrounding Charlotte County communities since its inception in 1964.

General tasks will include:

  • Assist instructors with the delivery of summer childrens arts & nature courses (some outdoor, some weekends required)
  • Assist in the set-up and clean-up of courses
  • Maintain and update the SSANC website and social media pages related to childrens courses (facebook, twitter, instagram)
  • Work to build the SSANC’s network and outreach to schools, community cultural centres, art galleries, and other like-minded organizations
  • Contact past and current students about upcoming course and event information
  • Research opportunities for growth regarding outreach and communications
  • Brainstorm new ways of delivering the message of children at the core of SSANC
  • Design digital and print promotional materials when needed
  • Assist with events when needed – some evenings and weekends required


  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Must have been registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year
  • Must intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year
  • Must be a student in a secondary, post-secondary, vocational or technical program
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Must be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial regulations
  • Must be comfortable speaking on the phone
  • Microsoft Office Suite and ease with computers
  • Experience with social media and customer service an asset
  • Experience with WordPress an asset
  • Graphic design skills and experience with Adobe Suite an asset
  • Excellent written & spoken communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and as a team
  • Interest in arts & nature an asset
  • Driver’s license and own transportation an asset
