Figure Drawing Basics

Saturdays, April 9 and 23, 10:00 am – 12:00pm

Beginner, youth (16+)/adult

Students are requested to bring their own sketchbook and sketching materials (recommend 18 x 24 newsprint/cartridge paper pads/assorted pencils/charcoals).

If you are new to figure drawing, this class is for you! Theresa will guide you through the steps of drawing a figure from photographs and will cover gesture and rhythm, sighting and measuring, lighting and value, and touch on basic proportion, construction, and anatomy.

We don’t charge HST.  SSANC Members may use their discount. Bursaries are available – click here to apply

About the Instructor: Theresa MacKnight is a highly accomplished artist and arts teacher.  She has won numerous awards and has been exhibited widely across New Brunswick.  As a retired high school art teacher, Theresa has extensive knowledge of working in different mediums and teaches with patience, encouragement and genuine consideration of individuals’ needs.

1991 – Bachelor of Education with a major in Visual Art Education, Lieutenant Governor’s Silver medal for Academic Achievement, University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, N.B.

1988- Bachelor of Fine Arts, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Halifax, N.S.

1985-87- Fine Arts Studies with academic honours, Mount Allison University, Sackville, N.B.
