In this twelve-hour course, participants will learn the basics of oil painting through structured activities and practice. Emphasis will be on an introduction to foundational principles that participants can build upon.
- Learn about the materials and their care (paint, brushes, mediums, tools, and surfaces)
- Understanding how values work in painting
- Finding your way with brushes and brushwork
- Beginning a painting and “Imprimatura”
- Working toward creating form and light in a painting
Artist Bio: Theresa MacKnight is a highly accomplished artist and art teacher. She has won numerous awards and has been exhibited widely across New Brunswick. As a full-time, high school art teacher, Theresa has extensive knowledge of working in different mediums and teaches with patience, encouragement and genuine consideration of individuals’ needs.
She has spent many years involved with SSANC as an instructor, student, and exhibitor. Recently retired from full-time art teaching, is continuing to explore and expand her own art practice.
