We are long overdue for recognizing the recipients of the Sunbury Shores Awards. So, put on your party wear and join us for an evening of celebration, fine hors d’oeuvres, and dancing to holiday music performed by members of The Hypochondriacs. The Eidlitz Award is in recognition of the vision of our founder, Dorothy Eidlitz – for appreciation and integration of natural science and the arts as interdependent sources of inspiration and to celebrate the harmony between arts and nature.
This award is being presented to Ann Manuel for 2019 and Alanna Baird for 2022. Ann Manuel is an award-winning artist, visual arts educator and arts advocate, and has worked for over 30 years in communities worldwide. Manuel has taught Visual Arts at all levels and has served on the Boards of various arts organizations, including SSANC, and numerous committees in public galleries and artist-run centres. Alanna Baird is an award-winning NB artist based in Saint Andrews, a long-time SSANC studio member/instructor (takes a leadership/technician role in the print studio), with a 40-year professional practice – her work is primarily nature-focussed and inspired.
The Sunbury Shores Award for Commitment to the Arts recognizes individuals dedicated to supporting the arts by volunteerism, organizational support, and/or patronage of the arts.
This award is being presented to Robert Van de Peer for 2019 and Evan Gill for 2022. Robert Van de Peer is an author, instructor, artist and master printmaker. He is a leading researcher in non-toxic techniques for printmaking in Canada. Evan Gill is a former Board Member, significant patron, fundraiser extraordinaire, and ongoing volunteer.
