St Andrews students in Beaverbrook Art Gallery exhibition
ST. ANDREWS, NB – Seven students from Sir James Dunn High School in St. Andrews are participating in Jeunesse créative NB Artful Youth, an exhibition of the work of students from around the province, that opens at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery on Sunday, May 3, 2024.
The group exhibition is a partnership with the Beaverbrook Art Gallery that was initiated by NB Arts Centre Association/Association des centres des arts du N-B, of which Sunbury Shores Arts & Nature Centre is a member. Jeunesse créative NB Artful Youth, the first project of the newly formed association, has been funded by the Sheila Hugh MacKay Foundation (SHMF).
NB Arts Centre Association was established to promote the importance of providing art education and arts related community services at the grass roots level, and to recognize the importance of personal wellness, inclusiveness, and the creative process, to people of all ages.
This exhibition is an important initiative for the Association in helping students create a meaningful body of work, engage in dialogue with peers in other communities, and participate in a provincial exhibition of their work. St. Andrews’ students created self-portraits in mixed media with artist Theresa MacKnight in Sunbury Shores’ multimedia studio.
Along with Sunbury Shores, association members are Aberdeen Cultural Centre, Moncton; Andrew & Laura McCain Art Gallery, Florenceville-Bristol; AX the Arts and Culture Centre of Sussex; Centre des arts d’Edmundston; Charlotte Street Arts Centre, Fredericton; Centre des Arts et de la Culture de Dieppe; The Saint John Arts Centre; and Société Culturelle Kent-Sud, Bouctouche;
