Brightly lit studios equipped for drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, jewellery, metalsmith, stained glass and more!

Printmaking

Our print shop is a bright facility on the second floor overlooking the St. Andrews Harbour. Sunbury Shores boasts one of the first environmentally-friendly, non-toxic printmaking studios in eastern Canada. Not only is this good for the environment, but it makes printmaking safe for kids, teens and adults! Established by Master Printmaker Robert Van de Peer, the print studio has been maintained, and equipped with the expertise of local and nationally recognized printmakers. The studio has 4 presses, non-toxic print chemicals and solvents, ink, rollers, plates and more.

Multi-Media

The multi-media studio is a large, brightly lit second-floor studio appropriate for painting, life drawing, photography, stained glass, fibre arts, and other media. It is a flexible and highly functional space overlooking Water Street that can accommodate large groups. The studio is equipped with a sink, overhead projector and computer, easels, work tables in various sizes, portable lighting, and numerous workstations. Stained glass equipment is available (torches, polishers, grinders, etc).

Ceramics

Located on the basement level, the pottery studio is a welcoming space for emerging and experienced potters to create work, instruct, experiment and connect. The studio has a sink, work tables, drying racks, 4 pottery wheels and 2 electric kilns.

Metalsmith

Our metal studio is located on the basement level, adjacent to the pottery studio. The studio has a wide assortment of hand and electric
tools, safety equipment, polishers, a small kiln and, a soldering station with gas torches and two acetylene gas tanks. The studio has 7 work stations and features windows overlooking the Centre’s Garden and St Andrews Harbour.

New Media Lab

The New Media Lab is equipped with cameras, lights, computers and monitors for studio users to create and edit videos, adjust sound and lighting, make video transfers to computer and back up and use video editing software. The New Media Lab also houses the Centre’s library of art books, resource materials, artist biographies, technical guides and glossaries on the arts.

Studio Memberships

Become a Member of Sunbury Shores for the following:

Daily Studio Rates are $25 per day, with members working independently with access to workspace, equipment, and materials.

  • A one-week rental is $140
  • A month membership is $280
  • Core Annual Studio Membership is $450
  • Multi-day Pass (pre-pay for 5 or 10 days) $20/day

Artist Residencies are funded through ArtsNB and other granting agencies are often available. For more information about Artist in Residence programs, contact the Artistic Director at artisticdirector@sunburyshores.org.

Sunbury Shores Studios are shared workspaces and each studio user is responsible for handing and removal of finished artworks and the cleanliness of the workspace and equipment.
