Kelly Harper Morehouse
The Sky Looked Different
Kelly was born in Newfoundland and has also lived in various places across Canada and the US. She now lives on a farm in the rolling hills of rural Nova Scotia. Her artistic practice, inspired by the land, the people and the nature surrounding her, leans towards realism while also exploring abstraction. Kelly began her studies at NSCAD University in 2001 and recently returned to complete her BFA. Kelly has been active in her local arts community and was a founding member of the Winding River Art Gallery, an artist-run cooperative in Stewiacke NS. When not at work in her garret, you might find her in the barn or the field, down by the stream or at the beach.

Carole Lulham
Signals: A Silent Plea
Carole Lulham is an emerging mixed media and mosaic artist who moved to the Maritimes in 2018, following work in Alberta in plant sciences and post-secondary education. Originally from Quebec, the fluently bilingual (English, French) artist practised mosaic art part-time for over twenty years, teaching from her studio in Calgary at Artpoint Studios, and in many colleges and communities in Alberta. Surviving a health scare, she consciously chose to devote herself to the arts, stepping up involvement in personal art, public art and teaching. In 2022, she produced three solo shows, led a community initiative leading to the creation of two large murals, taught several workshops and completed a public art commission for a seaside community.

Exploring the mushroom diversity of New Brunswick
with Alfredo Justo, Ph.D., Curator of Botany and Mycology, NB Museum
Thursday, October 12, 12:30 pm
Like in other parts of North America, many species of mushrooms occurring in New Brunswick are still waiting to be collected and described, and a good number of the supposedly common species are still hiding under incorrect European names or have not been yet named at all. In this talk, Dr. Justo will explore the mushroom research program conducted at the New Brunswick Museum, which highlights the great importance of collection-based research, and contributions from local groups of naturalists and citizen scientists. Call for Submissions
Artist in Residence 2024 - 2025
We are calling for submissions from professional artists to undertake a two-week residency at the Centre to be completed before the end of April 2024.
The 2023-24 Artist in Residence Program consists of two residencies for two weeks each in one of four Sunbury Shores’ studios – print studio, ceramics studio, metal studio, or painting/drawing studio. The goal of the residency is to provide a supportive environment where artists can pursue specific projects relating to their creative work. The artists in residence will also contribute to the promotion and understanding of the arts by means of the artists’ contact with the community, Sunbury Shores members, and visitors.
As part of the residency, artists will have the opportunity to engage with Sunbury Shores members and the public through a short talk, presentation, or artistic engagement while undertaking their residency. The selected artists (2) will receive a stipend of $2500 each for the two-week residency (for accommodation, meals, transportation, and materials).
We are calling for exhibition proposals by contemporary artists from New Brunswick, Canada, and internationally for exhibition at Sunbury Shores from 2024 – 2025.
We are currently seeking exhibition proposals for solo and group exhibitions in a variety of media. Exhibition proposals should be well-researched and outline a clear concept; they will be reviewed for artistic quality and creativity.
Submission requirements are (1) a digital portfolio of 8 – 10 images, with a corresponding image list; (2) a brief artist statement or exhibition proposal, max 500 words; (3) the artist’s CV or resume (max 2 pages); and (4) contact information (must include email, telephone and mailing address).
The deadline for submissions is October 6, 2023.
