SCAMPS Summer Camp Coordinator/Instructor

For the last 6 years, Sunbury Shores has delivered 7 to 8 weeks of summer camps, focused on arts and nature learning and activities.  The camps are 5 days a week, Monday to Friday.

Job position Starts:  June 22, 2026   Finish: approx. August 26, 2026

2026 Camps  to run from July 6 to August 21, 2026

Hours 8.30 – 3.30  (camp hours 9.30 to 12.00 – lunch – 12.30  to 3)

Ages 6 – 12

We are looking for a reliable, responsible and pro-active person to take the lead position for this program, working along with SSANC staff, with the following duties:

  • Create and prepare a scheduled program of mixed activities for each day, including team building games/physical exercise (yoga etc), nature studies through observation and discussion, with application of learning to art/craft projects.
  • Provide a list of materials required, and keep inventory of supplies to ensure timely ordering or re-ordering as needed. 
  • Following a registration process, confirming number of kids participating, payments, any particular allergies or health issues, confirming collection information etc.
  • Ensure all children are accounted for and monitored at all times.
  • Ensure lunch and snack breaks are monitored – (alternate with assistant)
  • Prompt reporting any incidents that affect the program, including any no-shows or early removals, injuries, system breakdowns, facility problems, complaints, behavioral issues etc.
  • Recording positive outcomes, with photos of work in progress, group activities and accomplishments, comments from kids/parents etc.
  • Ensuring Summer Camp assistant is prepared and providing back up as necessary.
  • Ensuring guest instructors are clearly informed of any particular needs or issues, providing materials necessary etc.

Some First Aid knowledge is required – sufficient to attend minor scrapes and cuts, and application of an Epi-pen with appropriate follow up. (Any kind of serious injury must be reported immediately as per our safety policy, supplied)

Cell phone required for communication at all times whilst at work.

Sunbury Shores will provide management of booking processes, ordering art supplies, engage assistant, guest and other instructors as needed, provide materials for other activities, and studios/instructors for specific arts activities in our studios as appropriate. 

Additionally, we will facilitate such meetings/discussions as needed between any/all parties to ensure smooth running of the program. 

Kingsbrae will provide locations for outside activities, with pre-identified shelter for inclement weather when necessary, and secure storage for materials/supplies. Huntsman Marine Science Centre to provide once a week activity centered around marine life – as available/possible. 

Salary: Starting from $25 per hour, (dependent on experience level) – 7 hours per day – 5 days per week – 9 to 10 weeks. 

Expenses:  Mileage allowable at .25c per km.

SCAMPS Summer Camp Assistant

Job position Starts:  June 29, 2026   Finish: approx. August 26, 2026

2026 Camps  to run from July 6 to August 21, 2026

Hours 8.30 – 3.30  (camp hours 9.30 to 12.00 – lunch – 12.30  to 3)

Working with a small team, this position is as an assistant to the Instructor with delivering hands-on programming about art and nature to children, ages 6-12years. 

Responsible, proactive supervision is required, working in a summer camp environment with outdoor excursions and explorations.

Activities include:

  • Assisting with creation of art and craft projects, 
  • Exploring our natural environment, and the links between them 
  • Help devise and run games and physical activities 
  • Working with kids to encourage them to explore, express themselves in a safe environment, and build respectful, interactive social skills

Salary: $16 p/h  – 7 hours per day – 5 days per week – 9 to 10 weeks. 

Expenses:  Mileage allowable at .25c per km. 

Please note:  To be eligible for our funding for this position, the candidate (student) must: 

  • be a resident of New Brunswick (must have lived in New Brunswick for at least 6 months) or a First Nation community in New Brunswick;
  • be eligible to work in Canada (must have a valid SIN number);
  • be a high school student entering grade 10, 11 or 12 in September 2026; OR
  • be a full-time grade 12, university or college student in the current academic year of 2025-2026 AND be attending a post-secondary institution full-time in the fall of 2026.

Instructor Opportunities

Every year we offer a wide range of courses, across a wide range of media, for all ages and abilities. In particular, we need instructors for outreach/after school activities, kids summer camp, seniors programs, hands-on craft activities etc. Subjects can include fine arts, printing, graphic design, writing, photography, digital arts, metalwork, ceramics, textiles/fibre, and more!
