ONLINE CLASSES
Playing with Poetry with Carole Martignacco | Monday, Feb. 8, 7 – 9 PM | Register via email to operations@sunburyshores.org
This 2-hour workshop will include discussing elements of art and design – with a look at poetry examples and the range of what’s possible. We will participate in drawing and writing exercises, speaking and reading, writing prompts, shaping words, editing and finishing touches. Then send your poem into SSANC to join our Poetry Window installation. (It can be anonymous if you like!)
Buckets of Love: Knit Along with Johanne Dugas | Monday, Feb. 8, 10 AM – 12 PM | Register via email to operations@sunburyshores.org
Learn to knit a little heart for the Buckets of Love project. Knit-along kits are available from SSANC.
The Knit Along Kit comes with instruction shees, two balls of yarn to make two medium sized hearts (choose between pink or red yarn), a pair of straight knitting needles, a handfull of toy filling to stuff, a needle to sew the knitted peices together, and a stitch holder – $10
Virtual Self-Care Valentine’s Day Experience | Sunday, February 14, 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM | $15 | Sign-up Here
Spend some time on Valentine’s Day showing yourself some love. Whether your single or in a relationship, this experience is designed to treat you to something special. It’s easy to focus on other people today, but we can’t offer our best selves to the world if we don’t take the time to love ourselves first. This guided virtual experience will help you relax, tune-in to your internal heart desires, and create a valentine experience for yourself.
Poppy Knit-A-Thon | Thursday, February 12th, 10 AM | Register to attend via email to info@sunburyshores.org
Knit-a-thon session – if we are allowed to have people in the building up to 14, or online via zoom for initial instructions. Established ‘Orange safe’ groups can form at home, or individuals welcome. The aim is to help knit more poppies for the Remembrance Day ‘banner/blanket’ for 2021. This wonderful project was established by Brenda Waiwood, with a group of dedicated knitters. We will supply patterns via email. Register in advance to receive patterns and info re materials required. No charge, but donations welcome.

We all need a little more love in our lives right now! As part of our “Sunbury Shores:The heART of our Community” campaign, we’re running a another online exhibition to the end of February. We’re inviting you to create artwork that expresses something you love – and submit photos via direct message – with your name, and a brief description of your work and we will feature it on our page.

Exercise your creative writing skills by writing a poem or haiku that expresses something you love. Send us a copy with your name or remain anonymous, if you like. We will print it and post it in our Water Street Gallery windows for the public to see!
