Sunbury Shores calls for artists for its “Celebrating 60 Years Exhibition”
ST. ANDREWS, NB – Sunbury Shores Arts & Nature Centre is marking its 60th anniversary by presenting Celebrating 60 Years. This milestone exhibition from September 6 – 27, 2024 is a celebration of the creative inspiration, artistic excellence and cultural diversity of emerging and senior artists who exhibited or worked at Sunbury Shores as well as teaching courses and workshops or participating as artists in residence during six decades.
The founder of Sunbury Shores, Dorothy Meigs Eidlitz initiated a rich period of growth for the arts in St Andrews with far-reaching results for Charlotte County
and the province. By establishing the first community art centre in New Brunswick in 1964, she left a legacy that has continued to support artists and the arts
community.
Eidlitz was an amateur photographer who practised her art in and around St Andrews, while collecting rare 19th century photographs, many of which are in the
collection of the National Gallery of Canada. Eidlitz‘ innovation, inspiration and philanthropy have benefitted and supported many artists in New Brunswick and elsewhere.
For Celebrating 60 Years, artists are encouraged to submit an artwork of their choosing for this once in a lifetime show. Artists are welcome also to sell their
work on exhibition, as no exhibition fees will be paid. The registration deadline for the exhibition is July 31, 2024. For more details, visit https://sunburyshores.org/apply/
