A major event of the 60th anniversary is a public illustrated talk ‘Dear Dorothy: Photographer, Philanthropist, Collector and Sunbury Shores Founder’ on Thursday, September 5, at 4:00 pm at the Huntsman Marine Dunn Theatre in the Fundy Discovery Aquarium Ann Thomas, retired Senior Curator of Photographs, and Interim Chief Curator for the National Gallery of Canada will present her research on Dorothy Meigs Eidlitz, the brainchild behind Sunbury Shores. Eidlitz’s extraordinary life as a feminist, activist for people with mental health challenges, international traveller, photographer, art collector, philanthropist and summer resident in St Andrews will be presented in the public talk.

Celebrate Mental Health week with us as we unmask mental health via art workshops and a presentation. Two workshops will be offered by Fabiola Martinez (a morning and afternoon session) and a talk on mental welness as we age will be given Bill Randall.
The public is invited to join artists Jennifer Pazienza and Paul Édouard Bourque with author Carole Martignacco and moderator Muriel Jarvis as they explore the vital relationship between art and nature. Drawing on the artists’ joint exhibition, the discussion will include how we allow nature to inhabit us, and how we inhabit nature.

Join us for the opening of Terry Graff's show, Magpie in a Multiverse, on July 4, 5 - 7 pm. Finger food and a cash bar will be available. Terry Graff uses found objects to create works o f assemblage art free of expense. Magpie in a Multiverse challenges notions of throw-away culture, turning scavenged recycled objects into reflections of nature and wildlife. Echoed by eras of material scarcity, Graff’s work reinforces the idea that objects can always be repurposed and reused, challenging the obsolescence of everyday items.

Lesly Bartlett’s Living Large combats conventional standards of beauty in modern media and art by celebrating the beauty of large bodies. Representing characteristics of large bodies that are commonly approached with negative sensitivity, Bartlett’s work dismantles these fears, reinforcing the reality of beauty in average body types. As a result, Living Large reconnects the romanticism of figure painting with real-life representations of people.
