• Artist Talk: Pazienza & Bourque

    The public is invited to join artists Jennifer Pazienza and Paul Édouard Bourque with author Carole Martignacco and moderator Muriel Jarvis as they explore the vital relationship between art and nature. Drawing on the artists’ joint exhibition, the discussion will include how we allow nature to inhabit us, and how we inhabit nature.

    Visible Mending Workshop Saturday, June 14 | 1–2 PM Give your clothes new life—with style! ✨ Join us for a hands-on Visible Mending Workshop where you’ll learn to repair your garments using creative techniques rooted in Sashiko embroidery. This accessible, expressive approach to mending works with all skill levels and can be personalized for your own style. We'll have plenty of materials so you only need to bring an item to mend. This is a one hour workshop, but the afternoon drop-in session starts right after so participants are welcome to stay and continue their projects or try something else! This is a great activity for all ages, old or young, and a great weekend activity for the family. If you can hold and use a sewing needle, you can try visible mending!     Join us for the opening of Terry Graff's show, Magpie in a Multiverse, on July 4, 5 - 7 pm. Finger food and a cash bar will be available. Terry Graff uses found objects to create works o f assemblage art free of expense. Magpie in a Multiverse challenges notions of throw-away culture, turning scavenged recycled objects into reflections of nature and wildlife. Echoed by eras of material scarcity, Graff’s work reinforces the idea that objects can always be repurposed and reused, challenging the obsolescence of everyday items.

    Join us for the opening of Lesley Bartlett's first solo show, Living Large, on July 4, 5 - 7 pm. Finger food and a cash bar will be available. Lesly Bartlett’s Living Large combats conventional standards of beauty in modern media and art by celebrating the beauty of large bodies. Representing characteristics of large bodies that are commonly approached with negative sensitivity, Bartlett’s work dismantles these fears, reinforcing the reality of beauty in average body types. As a result, Living Large reconnects the romanticism of figure painting with real-life representations of people.

    Join us for the second talk in our new Speaker Series. With decades of experience at the National Archives of Canada, Joan M. Schwartz, Professor Emerita at Queen's University, brings ups "In Search of Early Photography in New Brunswick." This talk uses her expertise in archives, memory, and materiality to talk about early photography and the stories it tells on New Brunswick.

  • AiR Pop-Up Exhibition: Kaitlyn Derrah (time to be announced)

    Join us for a pop-up exhibition to celebrate Kaitlyn Derrah's time in residence. A multi-media enthusiast, Kaitlyn has explored sculpting, fashion, metal arts, jewelry design, woodworking, and painting. Her residence will be spent in the metal shop at Sunbury Shores.   • Exhibition Proposal Writing Workshop

    The deadline to submit an exhibition proposal to Sunbury Shores is AUGUST 30. If you are planning on submitting and would like insight to the process or feedback on your proposal this workshop is your opportunity! We'll give you information on the exhibition committee's selection process, what we look for, what makes a strong proposal, etc... You will also have a chance to discuss your proposal with the other participants, getting feedback or suggestions. Once the working period starts, you can get help if your stuck or ask for feedback on what you have so far.   • Opening: The Art of Balance

    Join us for the opening of Kyla Chung's show, The Art of Balance, on August 8, 5 - 7 pm. Finger food and a cash bar will be available. Through abstract painting, Kyla Chung explores the complexity of the unseen force we know as Karma from the Buddhist tradition and represents the return of our actions using circular forms and figure depictions. The Art of Balance represents the emotions felt from both positive and negative karma and invites viewers to reflect on the implications of their everyday decisions.
