Donald Soctomah, Peskotomuhkati Elder and Tribal Historic Preservation Officer for the Passamaquoddy Tribe, Indian Township, Maine. Donald Soctomah is a Native American author, filmmaker, historian, and a former member of the Maine Legislature (1999-2011), highly respected for his achievements securing the passage of legislature to protect and safeguard Wabanaki culture.
Rube & Rake’s new album begins with an ode to family and friends— togetherness—as Josh Sandu declares, against a hopeful bluegrass backdrop, “somewhere there’s a place to lay my head.” Nine songs later, over a gently plucked guitar, he sings, “I won’t go picking it up, the weight of the page is just too much.”

This show features artworks, fine crafts, and sculptures by local artists of Charlotte County, New Brunswick. There will be drinks, charcuteries, and a cash bar. Everyone is welcome and it’s free to attend!
New Brunswick Artist, Melissa Kennedy, is Artist in Residence at Sunbury Shores Arts & Nature Centre, in St Andrews from January 7 – January 21, 2024. With her studio set up in the front window of Sunbury Shores at 139 Water Street, the artist’s explorations in creating and using handmade materials, including original inks and handmade papers, will be visible to all passersby. A public Open Studio visit with the artist takes place Saturday, January 20 from 10:00 am – noon. The 2024 Artist in Residency program is supported through the generosity of the Beaverbrook Canadian Foundation. A second residency at Sunbury Shores funded by the BCF will take place in April. Melissa has an Honours Diploma in Fashion Design from NBCCD, and a Bachelor of Applied Arts from UNB as well as extensive experience working in other media, including photography, drawing, and sculpture. She has participated in several exhibitions and residencies and has received grants from the Canada Council, ArtsNB, and other funding bodies. She has taught at the Saint John Art Centre and the Florence Academy of Art in Italy.
