Mindfulness and Moss: The Power of Art and Nature in a Time of Climate Crisis The event is free but please register in advance as space is limited “Stitching Connections, Cultivating Harmony: Embrace Nature’s Presence, One Thread at a Time.” Led by artist and climate advocate Danielle Smith, Mindfulness and Moss is a four-hour, community-based workshop exploring the intersection of art, mindfulness, and climate resilience. Blending fiber arts, reflection, and shared storytelling, the workshop invites participants to slow down, reconnect with nature, and find grounding through creative practice. Participants will engage in guided reflection, gentle grounding activities, and collaborative art-making using slow stitching—a meditative technique that encourages presence and imperfection. Each participant will create or contribute to a larger collective artwork known as the bed of moss, symbolizing connection, growth, and active hope in a time of environmental uncertainty. Through dialogue and shared experiences, participants will: Explore how art and nature can foster personal resilience and emotional well-being. Build connections within their community. Leave behind a meaningful “nature story.” Discover pathways for engaging with local climate solutions.
