Artist Talk with Silversmith Brice Garrett, Artist in Residence at Sunbury Shores, Wednesday, August 7 at 4:30 pm "When a hole becomes a moat; a well; a spring; a secret channel to the sea."
A major event of the 60th anniversary is a public illustrated talk ‘Dear Dorothy: Photographer, Philanthropist, Collector and Sunbury Shores Founder’ on Thursday, September 5, at 4:00 pm at the Huntsman Marine Dunn Theatre in the Fundy Discovery Aquarium Ann Thomas, retired Senior Curator of Photographs, and Interim Chief Curator for the National Gallery of Canada will present her research on Dorothy Meigs Eidlitz, the brainchild behind Sunbury Shores. Eidlitz’s extraordinary life as a feminist, activist for people with mental health challenges, international traveller, photographer, art collector, philanthropist and summer resident in St Andrews will be presented in the public talk.
The public is invited to join artists Jennifer Pazienza and Paul Édouard Bourque with author Carole Martignacco and moderator Muriel Jarvis as they explore the vital relationship between art and nature. Drawing on the artists’ joint exhibition, the discussion will include how we allow nature to inhabit us, and how we inhabit nature.
Join us for the first event in our new speaker series. Ray Cronin from The Beaverbrook Art Gallery will give a talk on renowned Canadian painter, Alex Colville. This event is free with donations encouraged. Refreshments will be provided.
Join us for the second talk in our new Speaker Series. With decades of experience at the National Archives of Canada, Joan M. Schwartz, Professor Emerita at Queen's University, brings ups "In Search of Early Photography in New Brunswick." This talk uses her expertise in archives, memory, and materiality to talk about early photography and the stories it tells on New Brunswick.
